Valentine's Day at The Langham
Giving to Garden to Table

(Auckland – 2 February 2015)

The Langham Auckland made a generous donation to local charity Garden to Table this week.

Sales and marketing director Michael Shah was delighted to present a cheque to Garden to Table Trust executive officer Anne Barrowclough at The Langham on Tuesday 20 January.

“It’s a pleasure to be able to provide more support for the Garden to Table programme in our local schools,” says Mr Shah.

“Garden to Table has such a strong positive influence for families and the community because it changes the way children think about food and teaches basic life skills.”

The Trust, one of the luxury hotel’s official charities, supports schools teaching 7 to 10-year-old children how to spend time in a productive veggie garden and home-style kitchen each week. They learn skills that will last them a life-time and learn about growing and cooking their own seasonal fruit and vegetables.

The Langham Auckland held a Paddington-themed Christmas Afternoon Tea in December last year and donated $5 per adult for every ticket sold at the event.

Exquisite treats such as little bear honey milkshakes, chocolate bear prints, gingerbread scones and Mind the Gap Bagels were met with squeals of delight by young children accompanied by their mums and dads.

Ms Barrowclough was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of the Trust.

"We are now working with 26 schools across the country to deliver this programme, with a number of schools keen to begin in 2015.

Financial support helps us build the resources we can offer schools. Thank you to The Langham Auckland for this initiative!”
